Nemoto Residence & Boutique

With only about 1800 square feet on a tight site in suburban Tokyo Japan, this house and boutique for a wealthy landowner was designed using two major themes: Exposed Architectural Concrete contrasted with soft and warm colors, and Light used to make dramatic statements. The steps inside the glass block "lantern" stairwell do not touch the perimeter, allowing light to wash up the inside, creating a dramatic night-time effect.
