Designed for a retired physician and his wife and children as a country retreat, this house is sited at the northern end of a spectacular lake in Western North Carolina. With 3200 square feet of conditioned living space and an additional 2300 square feet of decks and outdoor patio areas, it’s five square roof forms sheathed in copper, and vertical "sails" of local flagstone anchor the house while the roof planes tilt up and out to open each space to the commanding views of the lake and mountains.
